Tournament Judges
The Kingman Debate squad is looking for judges for our upcoming tournament on November 14, 2009. The tournament consists of five rounds. Round 1 begins at 8 am with the following rounds starting at hour and a half intervals. Judges are not required to judge all five rounds. There is a lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30. A hospitality lounge will provide a complimentary lunch with snacks throughout the day.
Prior knowledge of debate is not a requirement. We are looking for individuals who can listen with an open mind, make a determination which team did the better debating, and be able to give helpful feedback to the participants. Two judging clinics will be held at Kingman High School to help give new judges an idea on what to expect and how to judge a debate round. These will be held on Thursday, November 5 @ 7pm and Monday, November 9 @ 7pm in Mr. Mannebach’s classroom at the high school.
If you are interested in this exciting activity or have any further questions, please contact Darryl Mannebach at dmannebach@knusd331.com or (620) 532-3136 (Kingman High School).

What is debate?
For new people interested in debate, or curious about what it is:
• Debate is a form of speech competition in which teams of two debate whether or not a specific policy action should be enacted. Students will have the opportunity to defend both sides of the issue, while improving their research, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
